Top 3 best bowling spells by Indian pacers on debut 

Mumbai Indians found a new hero in the form of Ashwani Kumar during their eight-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday. The 23-year-old took the league by storm as he bowled three overs and picked four wickets for 24 runs. His wickets included Ajinkya Rahane in his very first ball of the spell brilliantly caught by Tilak Varma. 

This was soon followed by the wicket of the dangerous looking Angkrish Raghuvanshi. The 23-year-old then came back to get the wickets of Manish Pandey and Andre Russell with both players getting dismissed in the same over to mark a dream debut for the young bowler. Kumar was given player of the game award for his efforts as MI won the game to get their first points of the season.

Former Rajasthan Royals pacer, Amit Singh made an amazing debut in the IPL during the RR vs Punjab game in the 2009 edition. Amit got the wicket of Sunny Sohal with the first ball of his IPL career caught by skipper Shane Warne. Singh then dismissed Karan Goel for one run at the end of the same over to put his team on top. The right-arm seamer then got the wicket of PBKS skipper Yuvraj Singh for 48 runs to end his day with figures of three for nine from four overs.

2. Vijaykumar Vyshak

Former RCB pace bowler Vijaykumar Vyshak was at his best in his debut game against Delhi Capitals during the IPL 2023 season. Vyshak bowled four overs and gave away just 20 runs as well picking three wickets. The first wicket of Vyshak was that of David Warner for 19 runs. The second wicket to fall was Axar Patel for 21 before Vyshak removed Lalit Yadav for four runs to help RCB win the game by 23 runs.

Scouted by Mumbai Indians during a local T20 tournament in Punjab, young Ashwani Kumar made the fans sit up and take notice. The left-arm pacer bowled with great maturity to break the back of KKR’s batting and skittle them out for 116. Kumar became the first Indian pacer to take four wickets on his IPL debut and set a new record in what promises to be a promising career.
