Top 3 batting performances of Manish Pandey in IPL

Top 3 batting performances of Manish Pandey in IPL

KKR’s one of the most dangerous batter Manish Pandey has represented India in white-ball cricket for quite a long time. He’s undoubtedly one of the best players who knows the game really well. Also, he has a great domestic record. However, due to injuries and inconsistency in performance, he’s been out of the team for a while.

The middle-order batter is known to hit long sixes against some world-class bowlers which makes him special. If we talk about the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pandey has played for many franchises including RCB, KKR, SRH, and many more. In IPL 2024, he was with KKR but since the mega auction is set to happen in December, there are high chances of him going to some other.

Let’s discuss the top three performances of Manish Pandey in IPL:

1. 114 runs vs DC

In 2009, Manish Pandey hit his first century in the 2nd season of the IPL against the Deccan Chargers. Pandey played for RCB and scored an unbeaten 114 runs off 73 balls including ten boundaries and four sixes. He smashed the bowlers throughout the match as the team’s total went up to 170 runs. RCB won the game by 12 thanks to Anil Kumble and Balachandra Akhil’s brilliant bowling efforts. They took two wickets each and were quite economical throughout the match.

2. 94 runs vs KXIP

Pandey is a big match player and he showed his skills in the 2014 IPL finals when KKR needed 200 runs to win the title. He came at No. 3 and scored 94 runs off 50 balls including seven boundaries and six sixes. Pandey was phenomenal throughout the match and was there until the 16th over. When he was dismissed, the game was almost under KKR’s control. He was given the Player of the Match award for his impressive performance under pressure as chasing 200 runs in a final match isn’t everybody’s cup of tea.

3. 83 runs vs CSK

In 2019, Pandey scored another brilliant half-century against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) while he was playing for SRH. He hit 83 runs off 49 balls including seven boundaries and three sixes. However, it wasn’t his day as Shane Watson scored 96 runs and ceased the game for CSK. The Men in Yellow were chasing a score of 176 runs and won the game in the last ball.
