Kusal Perera came into the Sri Lankan team as one of the most exciting prospects. When he came into the team he was compared with the legendary Sanath Jayasuriya for his stroke-making. The left-handed batter soon enthralled everyone with his amazing batting and became the talk of the cricketing world. 

The T20I debut for Kusal Perera came against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground in early 2013. In his first game, the youngster scored 33 runs from 22 balls with 2 fours and a six as the Sri Lankans won the game by 7 wickets. 

Kusal Perera has scored a total of 1796 runs from the 69 matches he has played in the shortest format. He has also hit 14 half-centuries and has a career strike rate of 131.28. In the recent series against India, Kusal Perera was the best batter for his side and led the charge against a dominant Indian side.

It was the third match of the Tri-Series in 2018 as Sri Lanka took on Bangladesh. Batting at number three Kusal Perera smashed 74 runs from a mere 48 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes to help the home team reach 214 runs. Kusal Mendis also scored a valiant 57 but Bangladesh won the game by 5 wickets thanks to Mushfiqur Rahim who scored 72 runs to aid his team past the massive total.

There is no doubt that Kusal Perera loves batting at the Colombo Stadium. The left-handed batter helped Sri Lanka win the game by 6 wickets as he smashed 77 runs from 53 balls with 9 fours and a six. Bangladesh had won the toss and batted first to post 155 on the board. In reply, the Lankans won by 6 wickets with 7 balls to spare thanks to the efforts of Kusal Perera.

Early in his T20 career, Kusal Perera played a match-winning innings as he scored 84 for Sri Lanka to aid them score 211 and win by 24 runs. Kusal Perera faced 59 balls with five fours and 4 sixes before he was run out. It was one of the earliest knocks that showed the class and talent the young batter had to become a huge player for his side.
