3. 79 (61)* vs Bangladesh in 2015
This was where Faf Du Plessis showed his class on what was a tough wicket to bat on in Mirpur. South Africa had lost both their openers early in the game and it was up to the South African skipper to step up to the plate. This is where Faf played a great innings of 79 of 61 deliveries to take his team to a fighting total of 148 in the first innings. He took on the Bangladeshi spinners and this knock showed us that he can play that mature innings when his side needs it.
2. 85 (65) vs Sri Lanka in 2013
This was another great innings by Faf who played another fantastic innings when his team needed it the most. Once again the Proteas lost their openers early and it was Du Plessis who came to the rescue in the sub-continent at Hambantota. Du Plessis scored 85 of 65 deliveries formed a great partnership with JP Duminy and got his side to another decent total. South Africa might have ended up losing the match, but this match will still be remembered for his great knock.
1. 119(56) vs West Indies in 2015
This was a huge example of what Faf Du Plessis can do when he plays a long innings. This was perhaps one of his greatest international knocks we have ever seen as he took the Caribbean bowlers apart in this game scoring 119 from just 56 deliveries which included 11 fours and 5 sixes. This was an exceptional knock that got the Proteas to a total of 231 runs. Though the Gayle storm spoiled the party for the rainbow nation on the day, we should appreciate the magnificent innings of Du Plessis who once again performed for his side in a difficult stage after losing both their openers early. We all knew that Du Plessis was a class player, but this was a more dangerous side of him we saw on the day.
