Top 3 batting performances of Chandu Borde in Tests

Chandrakant Gulabrao Borde, born on July 21, 1934, is an all-rounder who was one of the best in the country. He has played cricket in the mid to late sixties and has handled the batting order single-handedly whenever needed. Moreover, he was the only Indian in the Rest of the World team that played Barbados in a commemoration match in 1967, which speaks of the cricketing world’s high regard for Borde’s ubiquitous skills. He has played all kinds of shots available in the cricket book, making him an even more beautiful batter.

1. 177 vs Pakistan, 1961

Even in the 1960s, thrashing Pakistan was a thing for the Indian cricketers. Borde was an extremely talented all-rounder who batted at No.6 and still scored 177 runs against the Men in Green. He scored 13 boundaries and held his nerve throughout the match. Since both teams were quite good, the match had no result. He played some incredible shots in the game, which made him famous. 

2. 125 vs West Indies, 1967

Borde scored 125 runs against the mighty West Indies team, which had some brilliant and deadly bowlers then. Top batters were scared to face the kind of bowling attack the Caribbean men did in the late 1960s. In these innings, he scored 14 boundaries, which was quite beautiful. The match was drawn again even though both teams batted in both innings and scored some really good runs. 

3. 121 vs West Indies, 1966

His third-best score came against West Indies in 1966, where he thrashed the bowlers and scored 121 runs. This time, he hit 15 boundaries. He tried his best to save his team from losing the match, but West Indies won the game with six wickets left.
