Top 3 batting performances of Carlos Brathwaite in T20Is

The West Indies are known for their explosive players who break into the scene and go on to become one of iconic figures for their team. There have been plenty of great all-rounders in the Caribbean right from Dwayne Bravo to Andre Russell who are some of the most dangerous batters to ever set foot on a cricket pitch. This is the big reason why they were the first team to win 2 T20 World Cup titles.

Though there have been plenty of great all-rounders who have performed consistently there are certain all-rounders who perform on the big stages of the game. One of these players is Carlos Brathwaite, who cannot only give you some great spells with the bat but also give some great knocks with the bat. We will be looking into some of these great knocks in T20I’s that have made him a household name.

So, here are the top three batting performances from the swashbuckling all-rounder in T20I’s:

3. 34(27) vs Pakistan in 2017 1st T20I

vs Pakistan in 2017 1st T20I

This might have not been the game that the West Indies would want to remember, but they should at least appreciate the cameo of then-West Indies skipper Carlos Brathwaite, who scored 34 from just 27 deliveries to make sure his team could get out of trouble on the day. Brathwaite could not take his team to victory, but he should be appreciated for this solid knock at the end.

2. 37(24)* vs Pakistan in 2017 4th T20I

vs Pakistan in 2017 4th T20I

This was once again another terrible time with the bat for the West Indies who once again fell apart against the Pakistan bowlers, However, it was their skipper who once again played a solid knock of 37 from 24 deliveries to get his side to some total. Brathwaite’s unbeaten cameo might have been useful, but that is not all since he also gave decent performances with the ball in these matches as well.

1. 34(10)* vs England in 2016

vs England in 2016

This was the final of the T20 World Cup and for a time it looked like England’s game. However here is where Carlos Brathwaite came onto the scene and was facing Ben Stokes in the last over and was also the new batter at the crease. This was the moment that made Brathwaite a World Cup hero as he hit Stokes for 4 consecutive sixes and finished the game for his side making the West Indies T20 World Champions for the second time. Brathwaite remained unbeaten on 34 of just ten deliveries and probably played the best innings of his life on the important day.
