Top 3 batting performances from Sri Lanka vs India 1st T20I

The 1st T20I game between Sri Lanka and India was a thrilling match where India set a target of 214 runs, which the Lankan Lions almost chased. However, their batting line-up collapsed, and hence, they lost the match by 43 runs. Until the 14th over, the ball was in Sri Lanka’s court but then the Indian bowlers changed the game entirely. Riyan Parag came in after the 17th over dismissed three batters and closed the game for India. This was indeed the highlight of the 1st T20I of Sri Lanka vs India. However, both teams’ batters played some solid knocks which was quite mesmerizing.

India’s top scorer and skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, played a beautiful innings of 58 runs off 26 balls. He smashed eight boundaries and two sixes. He played with a free mind, making it evident to the audience. This game showed the confidence with which he has taken over the captaincy. He batted with a strike rate of 223.08 which is incredible. 

2. Pathum Nissanka

Sri Lanka’s opener Pathum Nissanka almost took the game away from India with his great batting effort. He scored 79 runs off 48 balls, including seven boundaries and four beautiful sixes. They could have easily won the match had he been there on the crease for some more time. Nissanka batted confidently against India’s bowling attack which proved how great a player he is. 

3. Kusal Mendis

The keeper-batter of Sri Lanka, Kusal Mendis, is another important member of the team who scored 45 runs off 27 balls, including seven boundaries and one six. He targeted the bowlers really well and tried converting the game in their favour. It was because of his wicket Sri Lanka lost the match. He played with a strike rate of 166.67 which is great.
