Relive India’s victory in Adelaide vs Australia, marking a historic moment, under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, team India were on a different level regarding Test cricket. In the first Test match against Australia in Adelaide, India won the game by 31 runs. It was an amazing win for the young Indian team as they started the series on a great note. On winning the toss, Kohli chose to bat first. However, the start wasn’t great as KL Rahul and Murali Vijay were dismissed quickly. 

Then, Cheteshwar Pujara scored 123 runs in 246 balls while all the other batters kept throwing away their wickets at regular intervals. Rohit Sharma scored 37 runs in 61 balls helping India score 250 runs in the first innings. Josh Hazlewood claimed three wickets while Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon took two wickets each.

Australia’s batting order failed immensely and were bowled out for 235 runs. Travis Head was the highest scorer for Australia, scoring 72 runs in 167 balls. Peter Handscomb scored 34 runs in 93 balls. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin claimed three wickets while Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami took two wickets. 

Since India already had taken the lead, it became easier for them to score 307 runs. KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane were the best batters for India. Rahul gave the stability from the start, scoring 44 runs in 67 balls while Rahane scored 70 runs in 147 balls. Chesteshwar Pujara again scored 71 runs off 204 balls. Nathan Lyon claimed six wickets while Mitchell Starc claimed three wickets. 

Australia got a target of 322 runs and lost the game by 31 runs. Even though Shaun Marsh scored a blistering 60 runs in 166 balls, the team failed to win the game, giving the lead. From here on, India went on to win the series, 2-1.
