His fourth century while chasing came versus Afghanistan during the ODI World Cup 2023 game in New Delhi. The Indian skipper hit 131 runs from 84 balls to help India win the game by 8 wickets.
Gordon Greenidge – West Indies
One of the most feared batters for over two decades, Gordon Greenidge played a huge role in the domination of West Indies cricket. The right-handed batter formed a famed opening partnership with Desmond Haynes.
Gordon Greenidge has hit just two centuries in ODI World Cups and both has come while chasing a score. The first instance was against India during the 1979 World Cup where Greenidge was not out on 106.
The second century while chasing came during the 1983 World Cup versus Zimbabwe. The destructive Gordon Greenidge was not out on 105 to help his team win the game by 8 wickets while chasing 218 runs to win.
Rachin Ravindra – New Zealand
Playing in just his first ODI World Cup, the 23-year-old Rachin Ravindra has already created a name for himself. The young Kiwi scored a match winning 123 not out in the first game of the ODI World Cup 2023 versus England. Rachin Ravindra already boasts of two centuries in ODI World Cup history while chasing.
His second century while chasing came against Australia in a high scoring game in Dharamshala. Tasked with chasing a huge total of 388 to win, the Kiwis lost by just 5 runs. Rachin Ravindra sizzled yet again with the bat scoring 116 runs against a strong Australian bowling attack.
