Three Pakistani players to watch out for in their T20 World Cup clash against Canada

Group A was supposed to be an easy cakewalk for both India and Pakistan to make it to the Super 8 stages. It was almost thought Pakistan along with India would be the two teams to make it to the Super 8 stages. At the halfway point of the group phase matches though, Babar Azam and his side stand on the brink of an early exit. 

Pakistan began their T20 World Cup 2024 tournament against co-hosts United States of America. In a strange turn of events the Pakistani bowlers completely lost their lines and saw the USA tie the game. As the match went into super over Mohammad Amir conceded 17 runs and Pakistan couldn’t chase down the target and lost the match. 

In the next match against India, the bowling unit of Pakistan showed their true colours. Mohammad Amir, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah bowled well in tandem to skittle out India for a mere 119 runs. At one stage Pakistan looked well on course of a famous win but the batting choked against a quality Indian seam attack led by Jasprit Bumrah.

3. Mohammad Rizwan 

The Pakistani wicket keeper has been one of the best players for his side in the last few years. His record in the T20 format speaks for itself and his knock of 31 was the reason why Pakistan were within a shout of winning the game against India. Mohammad Rizwan will hold the key with the bat for Pakistan yet again and will be a key player to watch out for versus Canada.

2. Haris Rauf 

Pakistani seamer Haris Rauf bowled with good pace against India and picked 3/21 from his 3 overs. After being hit for a few boundaries in his first over the 31-year-old pacer pulled things back and was lethal against the Indian lower order. Haris Rauf is one of the fastest bowlers in the tournament and will want to continue his hot form with the ball against Canada.

Team India were kept in check due to the sensational bowling by Naseem Shah. The right-arm pacer picked 3/21 from his four overs with the wicket of Virat Kohli being the highlight. Naseem Shah not only has good speeds with the ball but can also swing the ball and is also a very handy batter towards the back end of the innings.
