Kumar Sangakkara’s career-best performance came against Bangladesh at Chittagong. He scored his only triple-century in 2014. The Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews won the toss and elected to bat first. On a placid wicket and against a fragile bowling attack, Sangakkara completely outclassed the Bangladesh bowling lineup to score his first triple ton. Eventually, the match ended in a draw but will be remembered for Sangakkara’s heroics.

This momentous knock from Sangakkara came in a historic partnership with his favourite teammate Mahela Jayawardene.

In the first innings, Sri Lanka restricted South Africa to 169 runs. Sri Lanka, in reply, dominated the South African bowlers and this domination was the result of a batting masterclass from Kumar Sangakkara and Jayawardene. Sri Lanka scored 756/5 in the first innings and ultimately won the match by an innings and 153 runs.
