T20 World Cup 2024: Top 3 England players to watch out for in their clash against West Indies

Defending champions England are set to take on hosts West Indies in their opening match of the Super-8 stages. Jos Buttler and his men haven’t had a great run into the next phase of the T20 World Cup 2024 tournament.

The Three Lions began by sharing points with Scotland as their game was rained out. In the very next match, they lost by 36 runs to their arch-rivals Australia. This left the English team in a huge limbo as they had to win both their games and also hoped the other results to go their way.

England first vanquished Oman in record time to better their run rate. This was followed by their 41-run win over Namibia to win their 2nd game of the campaign. Scotland’s loss to Australia ensured that England made it to the Super-8 stages as the second-placed team.

Here are the top 3 players to watch out for from England in their match against West Indies

3. Phil Salt

Phil Salt

The England opening batter has been in thrilling form in the recent few months. His exploits during the IPL 2024 have shown the world how dangerous he can be in the powerplay overs. Phil Salt had batted well in the game against Australia to keep his team in the game. His assault on his KKR teammate, Mitchell Starc saw him deposit a huge six into the stands. West Indies will be wary of the threat that Phil Salt can bring to the table and will be one of the key players to watch out for.

2. Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer

The right-arm pacer will be itching to take to the field against the country of his birth and show his skills. Jofra Archer has been at his best once more ever since his return to the game after his injury layoff. His exploits against Oman and Namibia showed the world that Archer is still a threat with the ball. The 29-year-old will be a key bowler to watch out for against the powerful West Indian batting unit.

1. Harry Brook

Harry Brook

Young batter Harry Brook played a pivotal role in England’s win over Namibia with his 47 not out. The right-handed batter was brutal as he took the English team to a position of strength and helped them post a huge score on the board. Harry Brook is lethal against both the pacers and the spinners with his long reach. If the right-handed batter gets going he will cause a lot of issues to the West Indian bowlers.
