Scoring a Test double-hundred in New Zealand is a massive achievement for any batter. Shakib achieved this milestone in 2017 when he smashed 217 runs against the Kiwis in Wellington. Wellington is one of the toughest venues to bat in because of the windy conditions. But Shakib conquered those challenging conditions with perfection. He scored this double hundred in the first innings of the Test and carried Bangladesh to a huge total of 595/8 before declaring the innings.

After losing the first Test, the second Test became a must-win for Bangladesh. The left-hander rose to the occasion and scored 144 runs in the first innings of the match to give Bangladesh a great start. His century made Bangladesh cruise through to a competitive total of 338 runs in the first innings.
