In global tournaments, one player who always made his presence felt for Pakistan was Shahid Afridi. The all-rounder was the joint-highest wicket-taker in the 2011 World Cup. He had the ability to galvanize his team through his performances when it mattered most. On that note, let us revisit his top 3 performances in ODI cricket.

Shahid Afridi delivered his best batting performance in a group-stage match at the 2010 Asia Cup against Bangladesh. The skipper Afridi decided to bat first after winning the toss, and his decision paid off. Pakistan looked comfortable in dealing with the Bangladesh bowling unit. Multiple batters got off to a good start and scored half-centuries, but they could not extend their stay. This resulted in a few quick dismissals in the middle overs. When Afridi walked into bat, Pakistan had lost 4 wickets for 176 runs. Then the skipper took charge and annihilated the opposition bowling unit. He smashed 124 runs off just 60 deliveries, taking the team total to 385 runs.

However, that advantage was completely neutralized by Shahid Afridi in the run chase. He bowled a phenomenal spell in which he took an unprecedented 7 wickets, setting the opposition batting order on a collapse. In the end, the run chase was wrapped up by Pakistan for a meagre 98 runs. Afridi was adjudged the player of the match for his unbelievable bowling performance.

Shahid Afridi had some great performances against arch-rivals India in ODI cricket. This batting performance by him is one of the best knocks in an India-Pakistan encounter. A young Shahid Afridi thrashed the Indian bowling attack in Toronto to guide his team to a memorable victory. He scored 109 runs off 94 deliveries, which pushed India out of the contest. Eventually, Pakistan ended up with 316 runs in the first innings and won the match by a massive margin of 134 runs.
