This is certainly the biggest controversy in Sreesanth’s cricket career as it had a disastrous impact. The fast bowler was accused of spot-fixing in the 2013 IPL when he was playing for Rajasthan Royals. He was nabbed with a couple of his franchise teammates, Ajit Chandela and Ankeet Chavan. He was found guilty of spot-fixing which later resulted in a lifetime ban by the apex cricket governing body in India. This ended his career which could have been filled with more glory. In 2022 he ultimately bid his farewell to cricket.

Another major controversy that Sreesanth was a part of happened in 2008. During an IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab, Sreesanth was slapped by his Indian teammate Harbhajan Singh. Punjab won the match which enraged Harbhajan and some gestures from Sreesanth did not go well for him. The senior off-spinner could not control his anger and slapped Sreesanth which created a huge controversy. Later after many years both finally eliminated the differences and moved on from that incident.

Sreesanth has always been known for being expressive on the field. He wore his heart on his sleeve in his playing days. In 2005 one such incident happened when the pacer did not shy away from expressing himself. The Indian team toured South Africa that year for a Test series and in one of the Test matches Sreesanth came out to bat in a precarious situation for Team India. He swung his bat in reply to a bouncer from Andre Nel, the South African pacer, which went for a six. The Indian fast bowler then showed his dance moves which caught the attention of fans.
