S Sreesanth top 3 performances in ODI Cricket

Former India fast bowler, S Sreesanth, is etched in the memory of Indian fans for his contribution to the glorious campaigns in the 2007 and 2011 World Cup. In white ball cricket, he was one of the prime fast bowlers for India between 2007 and 2011. In this article, we will look at his top 3 bowling performances in ODI cricket.

6/55 vs England, 2006

S Sreesanth delivered the best performance in his ODI career when he was just trying to make a name for himself in international cricket. Sreesanth was instrumental against England in the 7th ODI between India and England at Indore as the fast bowler picked up six wickets to prevent the visitors from posting a huge total on the board. He dismissed some key opposition batters including the English skipper Andrew Strauss and Matt Prior. India eventually won the match and Sreesanth was adjudged the player of the match for his phenomenal bowling spell.

4/47 vs New Zealand, 2010

The fast bowler from Kerala bowled a decisive spell against New Zealand in 2010. In the second ODI of the series, Gautam Gambhir won the toss and elected to invite the visitors to bat first. Sreesanth proved his captain’s decision right and got early wickets for India. He continued to give setbacks to New Zealand which did not let the opposition settle. Sreesanth helped India in restricting the Kiwis to 258 runs in the first innings which was eventually chased comfortably by India.

4/58 vs Pakistan, 2006

Another spectacular spell in a match-winning cause but this time against arch-rivals Pakistan. The Indian team toured Pakistan in 2006 for an ODI series and in the last match of the series Sreesanth stole the show. The fast bowler weakened the Pakistan top order in the initial phase of the innings by sending Imran Farhat, Kamran Akmal, and Shoaib Malik back to the pavilion. Later, he also got rid of Mohammad Sami to complete his four wickets.
