The Indian Premier League has affected the lives of many Indian cricketers. The league has been instrumental in finding talents from every nook and corner of India. But there is one player who might not remember his IPL stint fondly. We are talking about the former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth. In this article, we will take a look at Sreesanth’s performances in IPL and throw some light on his top 3 performances.
3/29 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, 2008
In the inaugural season of the league, Sreesanth impressed with his bowling skills playing for Kings XI Punjab. Punjab clashed with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the group stage and the Indian fast bowler gave the opposition a tough time in the first innings. Sreesanth took a couple of wickets in the powerplay to slow down the run-scoring of Bangalore. In the later phase, he dismissed Praveen Kumar to complete his 3-wicket haul.
2/10 vs Delhi Daredevils, 2011
In the 2011 season, Sreesanth played for the franchise from his home state, Kochi Tuskers Kerala. In a group-stage encounter against Delhi Daredevils, he delivered an economical yet wicket-taking spell. In his quota of four overs, he conceded only ten runs and took a couple of crucial wickets in the form of David Warner and Naman Ojha. His initial spell did not let Delhi Daredevils gain momentum in their batting stint and the visitors could only manage to post 157 runs in the first innings.
2/20 vs Delhi Daredevils, 2009
Another crucial bowling spell against Delhi Daredevils but this one in 2009. The second edition of IPL was played in South Africa and those conditions suited Sreesanth as he had performed well in South Africa in international cricket as well. Yuvraj Singh won the toss for Punjab and put Delhi to bat first. Just after the powerplay Sreesanth weaved his magic and got rid of the destructive duo of Tillakaratne Dilshan and AB de Villiers. Punjab restricted Delhi to 120 runs in the first innings and Sreesanth had a crucial role in that.
