6/41 vs Zimbabwe, 2016 

The Kiwi fast bowler delivered his second-best bowling performance in Test cricket against Zimbabwe. New Zealand toured Zimbabwe in 2016 for a 2-match Test series and as expected New Zealand started the series on a victorious note. Neil Wagner set the tone right in the very first innings with his six wickets. His bowling spell did not let Zimbabwe post big runs on the board in the first innings which gave New Zealand an edge in the contest.

In the 2016 Test series against Australia at home, Wagner showed some resilience against the visiting Kangaroos who were dominating the proceedings with the bat. In the second Test at Christchurch, New Zealand scored 370 runs in the first innings and in reply, Australia smashed 505 runs. The lead could have been much more had it not been for Neil Wagner’s perseverance. The left-arm fast bowler delivered a long spell and picked up 6 wickets to prevent the Aussies from expanding their lead.
