South Africa batted first and scored 183 and were at one stage struggling at 86/6 before Wayne Parnell came to the rescue. Then aged 23, the left-handed batter scored 56 runs from 70 balls with six fours and a six. This helped South Africa win the match by one run as Parnell also picked 3 wickets including that of Ahmad Shehzad for 58 as well as wickets of Misbah ul Haq and Mohammad Hafeez.

South Africa posted a massive total of 361 on the board during the 5th ODI versus West Indies at Centurion. Hashim Amla scored 133 off 105 balls while Rilee Rossouw smashed 132 off 98 balls. The damage with the ball was done by Wayne Parnell who picked 4/42 from his 9 overs. He began by dismissing Dinesh Ramdin and Andre Russell before getting rid of Jonathan Carter and Jason Holder as Proteas won the game by 131 runs.

Just weeks after taking his first-ever ODI fifty, 20-year-old Wayne Parnell struck again. The left-arm pacer picked a career-best 5/48 in the game versus England. The home team batted first and posted 354 on the board thanks to AB De Villiers’ 121. Hashim Amla, Graeme Smith, and Alviro Petersen scored fifties to help the side reach the massive total on the board. Wayne Parnell began by dismissing Luke Wright and Johnathan Trott. The pacer then dismissed Paul Collingwood for 86 before dismissing Stuart Broad and James Anderson to complete his fifer.
