The International Cricket Council (ICC) ranks all of the international cricket teams taking part in various events each year based on their performances, win percentages and overall point totals. But there are very few teams who have been the best and that can be decided by the number of titles under their belt

Winning the world title in any format is a big achievement in cricket and when top nations compete, it is a very difficult challenge for the side. With the addition of the Test Championship, it can be said that there are rewards for the persistence of the teams in every format of the beautiful game.

Let’s take a look at the top three successful nations in the cricket world

1)     Australia

The Australian Cricket Team has long worn the Cricket Empire’s crown. It is recognised as the world’s best cricket squad. The Croatian team set a World Cup record in 2011 by winning 34 straight games.

It is ranked as number one based on its success in Tests in addition to in ODI. They have won one 20-20 World Cup championship in addition to five 50-over World Cups. Under Ricky Ponting’s direction, they were the most successful side and exhibited an aggressive style of cricket.

2)     India

In this ranking, which takes into account results from each of the three matches, the Indian cricket team is currently resting in second place. The national cricket team of New Zealand, known as the Black Caps, is currently ranked third in this list. They claimed the third spot after a close fight with South Africa. New Zealand won the inaugural edition of the Test championship in 2021 which was the pivotal factor in deciding the third spot. The team’s ODI career began in 1972 when it faced Pakistan in its inaugural game.

Since then, it has been climbing the higher ladder of prosperity. The squad competed in the 2015 World Cup, making it to the final and taking second place. They again made the final of the 20-20 World Cup but failed at the final hurdle.
