Shikhar Dhawan came up with his best performance in test cricket against Sri Lanka in 2017, at Galle. India batted first in the opening match of the series. Opener Abhinav Mukund was dismissed early by Sri Lanka but Shikhar Dhawan took charge and built a huge partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara to neutralize the good start that Sri Lanka got. India eventually scored 600 runs in the first innings and Dhawan ended up with a phenomenal knock of 190 runs.

Shikhar Dhawan announced himself in test cricket with a spectacular century against a strong Australian bowling attack at Mohali on his debut in 2013. Australia batted first in the match and scored 408 runs in the first innings to give India a strong challenge. The reply from India was as potent with Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay adding 289 runs for the opening partnership. Shikhar completed his century in the first session of the day’s play and dominated the Australian bowlers. India scored 499 runs in the first innings to take a big lead in the match.

Shikhar’s third-highest score in his test career came against Bangladesh at Fatullah in 2015. In the one-off test series, India batted first and put up 462 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in the first innings. Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay were once again the top run-scorers for India in the first innings. Shikhar scored 173 runs and his massive partnership with Murali Vijay was enough to deflate the confidence of Bangladesh. India steamrolled Bangladesh in the first innings to impose a follow on but rain rescued them and the match ended with a draw.
