Rahul Dravid's top 3 knocks in Test Cricket

The name, Rahul Dravid, needs no introduction for Indian cricket fans. He was a special player who made test cricket even more interesting. Dravid was a perfect test batter and his technique was unassailable. In this article, we will take a look at Rahul Dravid’s top 3 innings in test cricket.

270 vs Pakistan, 2004

Performing against arch-rivals is one of the most cherished achievements in a cricketer’s career. For any Indian batter performing well against Pakistan holds special value. Rahul Dravid played his best knock in Test cricket against the arch-rivals in their home at Rawalpindi. It was a special test series for India as it was the first series win in Pakistan and Dravid’s double century made the victory even more memorable.

He made this double-ton in the 3rd and final test match of the series which was the decider as both teams had already won a match each. This knock helped Team India post 600 runs in the first innings which proved to be too much for the opposition.

233 vs Australia, 2003

Another historic double century by Rahul Dravid but this time against Australia in Adelaide. In the first innings, Australia had scored 556 runs which was a huge total for India to chase and take the lead. The Indians got off to a disappointing start as they lost 4 wickets with just 85 runs on the board.

However, it was the duo of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman who once again stood tall between Australia and their victory. India ended up with 523 runs in the first innings and reduced the lead which helped them win the match later on in a historic fashion.

222 vs New Zealand, 2003

Rahul Dravid played this top-quality innings against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. It was the first match of the test series where Dravid displayed his class to put the Kiwis on the back foot. Courtesy of his double century and Sourav Ganguly’s unbeaten century India declared the first innings with 500 runs on the scoreboard.

The match eventually ended in a draw but Dravid was awarded the player of the match for his double century and a half-century in the first and second innings respectively.
