Punjab Kings’ top three highest scores in Indian Premier League 

Since the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL), only three original teams have failed to win the title. Bengaluru has been on the list despite their riches of talents, while Delhi has come close once. 

Punjab Kings as a team has been able to attract some of the biggest names in the Cricket world. Despite boasting some big names and making substantial investments in the Auctions, the team hasn’t been able to win the title.

Put into bat, Punjab saw Martin Guptill and Wriddhiman Saha open the batting. The Kiwi began well by scoring 36 off just 18 balls while skipper Glenn Maxwell blasted 47 off 21 balls. Veteran Shaun Marsh contributed with 25 batting at number four but the star of the show was then India’s Test wicketkeeper Saha.

The right-handed batter scored 93 not out from 55 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes. Mumbai Indians fell short by 7 runs as West Indies Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard scored blistering half-centuries.

Punjab Kings had a dream season in 2014 where they went to play the finals. Against Chennai Super Kings in Cuttack, George Bailey and his side decided to put CSK under the sword. Glenn Maxwell top-scored with 90 runs off 47 balls with the help of 8 sixes and 6 fours.

David Miller helped himself to 47 runs but it was George Bailey who stole the show. The skipper hit 40 not out off just 13 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes as PBKS reached a mammoth 231 on the board. 

PBKS 232/2 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore – IPL 2011

Royal Challengers Bangalore have received a fair few thrashings with the ball but nothing beats the licks Punjab Kings gave them. Adam Gilchrist decided to cut loose and score 106 runs from 79 balls. 

Shaun Marsh scored 79 not out to help Punjab score 232 from their 20 overs. In reply, RCB were bowled out for 121 with AB De Villiers scoring 34 runs as PBKS won by 111 runs.
