Predicting West Indies Women’s Playing XI for their second ODI against India Women

After having a tough time against India Women in the first ODI of the three-match series, the West Indies Women will face the hosts in the second ODI of the series. The game will be played at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on December 24, at 1:30 PM (IST).

The Caribbean Women already faced a 1-2 defeat in the three-match T20I series against the women in blue. Now, they will be eyeing to make a comeback on their India tour with a win against Harmanpreet Kaur and Co.

Openers: Hayley Matthews (C) and Qiana Joseph

In dismay for the Caribbean camp, the opening pair of skipper, Hayley Matthews and her partner, Qiana Joseph failed to leave any impact. Both the batters were dismissed cheaply at the team’s score of just 3 runs in 2.1 overs. Both the batters went back to the pavilion without even getting off the mark.

However, the West Indies management could still think about the pair of Matthews and Joseph to open the innings in the second match of the three-match ODI series.

Middle-Order: Rashada Williams, Deandra Dottin, and Shemaine Campbelle (WK)

The middle order of the visitors might consist of the ‘number 3’ batter Rashada Williams; she could play a crucial role with the bat and carry the innings ahead with an ‘anchor role.’ Rashada Williams can be accompanied by the star batter Deandra Dottin, alongside the wicketkeeper-batter Shemaine Campbelle.

The trio is expected to get back to form after a failure in the ODI series opener against the hosts. They will look ahead to play a decisive role for the visitors in this must-win game of the series.

All-Rounders: Aaliyah Alleyne and Zaida James

Aaliya Alleyne and Zaida James might be picked in the playing XI in the role of all-rounders. The management will bank on these two to play a vital role both with the bat and ball. Alleyne and Zaida could be important assets for the Caribbean side in the lower middle order to add some crucial runs.

Besides that, the duo can also help the tourists to get some much-needed breakthroughs while bowling. Zaida James also claimed a sensational five-wicket haul in the first ODI, scalping 5 wickets at 45 runs in her 8-over stint.

Bowlers: Shabika Gajnabi, Shamilia Connell, Afy Fletcher, and Karishma Ramharack

The West Indies Women’s bowling attack will include Shabika Gajnabi, Shamilia Connell, Afy Fletcher, and Karishma Ramharack. However, the quartet failed to impress with the ball in the previous game against India Women. But the Caribbean management might look ahead to go with an unchanged bowling lineup for West Indies Women.
