Predicting West Indies’ Playing XI for their final Test against England

West Indies are gearing up for the third and final Test match against England. The visitors have already lost the series after heavy defeats in the first two matches. However, Kraigg Brathwaite and Co. will now aim to avoid a whitewash and end the tour on a positive note.

They lost the series opener by an innings and 114 runs. Although the efforts of their bowlers and batters were impressive in the second Test, it did not help them to victory. Centuries from Joe Root and Harry Brook, followed by a fifer from Shoaib Bashir outclassed the Windies team in the second innings.

Here is West Indies’ predicted playing XI for the third Test against England:

Openers: Kraigg Brathwaite (c), Mikyle Louis

Windies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite struggled to find runs in the first Test, getting out for single-digit scores in both innings. However, he found his rhythm in the second Test, scoring 48 and 47 runs in the first and second innings, respectively. Meanwhile, his partner at the other end, Mikyle Louis, failed to make an impact in both matches.

Middle-order: Kirk McKenzie, Kavem Hodge, Joshua Da Silva (wk)

Kirk McKenzie’s poor form is a concern for the Windies’ middle order. The southpaw has scored just 13 runs in four innings, including one duck. Kavem Hodge is currently the highest run-scorer for the visitors – 148 runs in two matches at an average of 37.00. Notably, he slammed a superb hundred in the first innings of the Nottingham Test.

Joshua Da Silva struggled for form in the series opener but struck a crucial unbeaten 82 in the first innings of the second Test. He regained his form and is expected to shine in the final match.

All-rounders: Jason Holder, Alick Athanaze, Kevin Sinclair

Although Jason Holder has contributed quite a bit in both departments, the fast-bowling all-rounder has yet to live up to expectations. He has amassed 84 runs and grabbed three wickets in two matches. Alick Athanaze’s 99-ball 82 was crucial in West Indies reaching a massive score of 457 in the first innings of the second Test. However, they have yet to utilize his off-spin prowess in the series.

Kevin Sinclair was not picked in the series opener. He was included in the XI for the second Test but failed to make the impact as expected. In both innings, he got out in single digits and also grabbed just three wickets.

Bowlers: Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales, Alzarri Joseph

West Indies’ pace attack is led by Jayden Seales. The right-arm speedster is the second-highest wicket-taker with 10 scalps from two matches. Notably, he has grabbed a four-wicket haul in both matches. Alzarri Joseph was impressive in the previous match, picking up five wickets after a mediocre outing at Lord’s. Meanwhile, ‘Gabba hero’ Shamar Joseph has yet to make an impression in the series.

West Indies’ predicted XI vs England:

Kraigg Brathwaite (c), Mikyle Louis, Kirk McKenzie, Alick Athanaze, Kavem Hodge, Jason Holder, Joshua Da Silva (wk), Alzarri Joseph, Kevin Sinclair, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales
