The Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is still in full throttle and this time we are ready for the Melbourne derby as the Melbourne Stars-W will be taking on the Melbourne Renegades-W tomorrow and we are still early into the game. The Stars will want to win this game and continue getting some points on the board while the Renegades will want to get their season underway as well.
Though the Renegades will also have nothing to lose it is the Stars that will want to make a comeback after the disappointing loss against the Sixers at home and it is time they get their plans on track. The game against the Renegades and get back to winning ways. It will be interesting to see who will be the players of choice for the stars going into the game.
So, here is the predicted playing XI of the Stars ahead of the game:
Top order: Yastika Bhatia(wk), Ines McKeon and Sasha Moloney
Yastika Bhatia has played some decent innings in the past already and will be one of the players to watch out for during the match. Ines McKeon might have to eventually play a big innings. The only change we might be seeing is to get the likes of Sasha Moloney in place of a struggling Meg Lanning which could make a difference and also give an extra bowling option as well.
Middle order: Annabel Sutherland(c), Marizanne Kapp and Deepti Sharma
These three all-rounders are known to play key roles with both the bat and the ball. Skipper Annabel Sutherland was perhaps the best performer for the Stars during the previous match. These three are a vital part of the team and it will be important for them to continue playing crucial knocks and bowling some important overs when needed and keep their side in the game. Deepti with her off-spin and Kapp with her medium pace can change games when required.
Lower middle-order: Tess Flintoff and Rhys Mckenna
Other than the star all-rounders in the middle order there is some depth in the lower middle order as well. Tess Flintoff and Rhys Mckenna might still be new to the game but still have a lot of potential and should be backed in the upcoming game. These two bowling all-rounders can give iconic spells with the ball and can strike some big hits down the order as well.
Tailenders- Kim Garth, Sophie Day and Maisy Gibson
Kim Garth has been one of the best bowlers for the Stars this season and is a clear pick for the next match. Other than her Sophie Day and Maisy Gibson might have not had an eventful day in the last match but have shown some great performances in the past and will be looking to do the same tomorrow. Overall this is a perfect playing squad that could win against their arch-rivals in the derby.
