Predicting Melbourne Stars’ playing XI for their clash against Brisbane Heat in the BBL 2024/25

ere’s the predicted Melbourne Stars’ playing XI as they prepare for their upcoming clash against Brisbane Heat. Melbourne Stars will face Brisbane Heat in the 19th match of the Big Bash League 2024/25. The match is set to take place at the Gabba, and the Stars will be desperate for a win. Melbourne’s green team is placed last in the points table after losing all five of its five matches in the league so far. They will be under immense pressure to beat the home side, which has had a mixed bag so far.

Brisbane have won and lost two matches each in the league so far. Stars need to perform better as a unit. In particular, the batters have to step up and assist their bowlers. If the Stars lose to the Heat, it will be very difficult for them to make a comeback in the league. Hence, the match acts as nearly a must-win one for the visiting side. They have to be at their best against the home side.

Here’s the predicted Melbourne Stars’ playing XI for their match against Brisbane Heat:

Top Order –

Sam Harper

The Stars’ top order has the likes of Sam Harper, Ben Duckett, and Marcus Stoinis. Duckett has undoubtedly been the best player of the Stars. But Harper and Stoinis haven’t been as good with the bat. Duckett is consistently aggressive and others haven’t been good around him. The Stars need a better performance from their skipper and WK batter for the rest of the tournament.

Middle Order –

Glenn Maxwell

Melbourne’s middle order has some of the best players in the world. Glenn Maxwell is likely to continue at 4. He has to fire for the Stars to have any chance in the tournament. Hilton Cartwright at number 5 has been poor in the league so far. Beau Webster provides the balance to the Stars. He has done decently as a batter and has been a good wicket-taker with the ball.

Lower Middle Order –

Usama Mir

In the lower middle order, the Stars have the likes of Jonathan Merlo and Usama Mir. Merlo hasn’t had a great tournament so far. He has scored 11 runs in 2 innings and would be hoping to perform better against the Heat. Usama has claimed 3 wickets in 2 innings at an economy rate of 10.00. While he has gold wicket-taking abilities, Usama must be economical. He can add some runs lower down the order.

Bowlers –

Brody Couch

The Stars’ bowling attack will likely have Peter Siddle, Joel Paris, and Brody Couch. Paris did well in the last game by claiming 1/29 in his 4 overs. Siddle has been the best bowler of the Stars in the league so far. Couch hasn’t done a good job in the league so far. Usama and Webster have been good with the ball. If necessary, the Stars will have the services of Maxwell and Stoinis with the ball.
