Predicting Lucknow Super Giants’ four overseas players in their playing XI in the IPL 2025

Predicting Lucknow Super Giants’ four overseas players in their playing XI for IPL 2025. Lucknow Supergiants have been a good team in the IPL since their inception in 2022. They made it to the playoffs in their first two seasons in 2022 and 2023 respectively. As things did not go their way in 2024, there was a massive revamp in LSG. Their previous captain, KL Rahul, was released from the squad along with many other star players. Their squad for the IPL 2025 has some big names too.

Among them, there are many overseas players who have made a name for themselves at the highest level. LSG have a lot of options to choose from, especially in their batting unit. They are likely to go with a batting majorly consisting of overseas players. Their bowling might be reliant on the emerging Indian bowlers. While it might be a gamble, LSG would like to bank on its strength.

Here are the four possible overseas players who might start in Lucknow Super Giants’ playing XI in the IPL 2025:

1. Aiden Markram

Aiden Markram

Aiden Markram could be asked to open the innings for LSG, as they do not have better options. The South African star is a natural number 3 in T20 cricket. If required, he can also step up as a leader. He ranks among the finest captains in the world. As a pure batter, he is better suited for anchoring. Given the nature of Ekana wicket in Lucknow, he could potentially bat at 3 as well.

2. Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh

LSG’s batting positions could depend on the venues they play. While Markram seems suited as a number 3, he could be swapped with Mitchell Marsh if required. The Australian star can bat as an opener and as a number 3. If required, he can bowl some overs as well. While LSG have a terrific batter like Nicholas Pooran at 3, he could be pushed down to accommodate Marsh at number 3.

3. David Miller

David Miller

After Rishabh Pant, LSG have a finisher like David Miller. The Protea has been well past his prime. But it would be a crime if one thinks he cannot replicate what he used to do in his prime. The Southpaw is still a force to reckon with. If backed well and given clarity about roles, Miller could do wonders for LSG. He is one of the best fielders and can bat slightly higher to anchor the innings as well.

4. Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran is one of the costliest players of the IPL 2025. He is one of the best T20 batters in the world. If required, he can keep the wickets as well. Even as a fielder, he is brilliant. Barring bowling, Pooran can do everything. He might well be named the skipper of the Lucknow-based franchise. Pooran has been one of the best middle-order batters in the IPL for a long time. He will walk into LSG’s playing XI.
