Predicting India’s Playing XI vs New Zealand in ODI World Cup 2023 Semifinal

Throughout the ODI World Cup 2023 group stages, the Indian team has dominated.  They will now be locking horns with New Zealand in the first Semi-final. New Zealand has dominated India in the world events but after 20 years India defeated the Kiwis in a world event this time in this World Cup. This will be a repeat of the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final where New Zealand knocked India out of the World Cup. This will be a big test for the Men in Blue but they would be desperate to continue their winning streak and qualify for the finals.

Let’s take a look at the probable India’s Playing XI vs New Zealand in the ODI World Cup 2023 first semi-final:

Top Order

Predicting India's Playing XI vs New Zealand in ODI World Cup 2023 Semifinal
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill

The Indian top order is performing at its best. They have given great starts to the team which has given them the edge over their opponents. Captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have been in great form and their approach in the powerplay has helped Team India a lot. Both of them would be looking to bat similarly to give the team early momentum against the Kiwis.  At No.3 Virat Kohli has been sublime. He is the leading run-scorer in this World Cup and India would be expecting another masterclass from him.

Middle Order

Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul 2

In the last few matches, the middle order has joined the party with some brilliant knocks. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have been in constant conversation. Against the Netherlands, both these batters scored centuries. Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja would also be prepared to chip in if required. These two have played a few crucial cameos in this tournament.

Bowling Unit

Jasprit Bumrah 12 2

India’s bowling attack has been the most lethal unit in the ODI World Cup 2023. The pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, and Mohammad Siraj has completely obliterated every opposition that they have come against. At Wankhede, they will be eager to use the conditions and dominate once again.

The spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja would come in handy as they have given breakthroughs at crucial junctures throughout the tournament.
