Predicting India’s Playing XI for their 3rd Test against England

The Indian team levelled the ongoing Test series in Visakhapatnam in a dominating fashion. This victory in the second match has enthused a belief in the home team which appeared to be puzzled in the first match in Hyderabad. Now the series has moved to Rajkot for the third match which is a very crucial encounter in the context of this series. In this article, we will take a look at the probable Indian playing XI in the Rajkot Test

Top Order

Shubman Gill

The top order is one aspect that is not a concern for India going into the third Test. The Indian top order looks settled with skipper Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill forming a solid trio. Jaiswal stepped up in the last match with a well-made double century and in the second innings, it was Shubman Gill who showcased his potential with a long-awaited century. Rohit has not found a rhythm but the Indian skipper can make a comeback in the third Test and the Indians would be desperately hoping for the same.

Middle Order

Rajat Patidar

The Indian middle order will witness the biggest rejig ahead of the third Test. Virat Kohli has been ruled out of the series and KL Rahul is also out of the equation before the third Test. These exclusions mean the middle order will see multiple new faces. Rajat Patidar will retain his place at No.4 but there will be a new name at No.5. Sarfaraz Khan, after a long struggle has finally found his opportunity. He can feature in the playing XI in the next Test. Axar Patel’s role will also be crucial in the middle order as an all-rounder. Another big change will be in the wicketkeeper-batter role. The young Dhruv Jurel is expected to get the nod ahead of KS Bharat.

Bowling Unit

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah will be the biggest hope for India in the bowling department. His performances in the first two Tests have been phenomenal. His trusted bowling partner Siraj is expected to make a comeback after an off in Visakhapatnam. The spin trio will include R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel. It will also be a big Test for spinners considering the past record of Rajkot’s flat surface.
