Predicting Hobart Hurricanes Women’s Playing XI for their match against Brisbane Heat women in WBBL 2024

Hobart Hurricanes women will be up against the Brisbane Heat women in the 10th match of the WBBL 2024-25 at the Junction Oval. The focus of the Hurricanes women would be to be back to winning ways. They have had a mixed bag in the season so far. They have played both of their matches against Sydney Thunder. Interestingly, their win and loss have been very similar.

The Hurricanes women won the first of the two encounters against the Thunder women by 31 runs. Similarly, they lost their second match by 33 runs. While their batting looks strong, the bowling unit seems to lack a bit of experience and a star bowler who is proven at the highest level. Against the Heat women, they will have to be at their best to claim a win.

Here is the probable playing XI of the Hobart Hurricanes women against the Brisbane Heat women in the WBBL:

Top Order – Lizelle Lee (WK), Danni Wyatt, and Nicola Carey

Lizelle Lee

The Hurricanes women have one of the best top orders in the league. The sheer quality of the openers makes them a dangerous side. However, both Lizelle Lee and Danni Wyatt are yet to fire, which has been a concern for the Hurricanes. Nicola Carey has been the best player of the Hobart Hurricanes Women so far. She has been good both as a batter and as a bowler.

Middle Order – Elyse Villani (C ), Heather Graham, and Chloe Tryon

Elyse Villani

At number 4, the Hurricanes women have their skipper Elyse Villani. She has been fine as a batter and has taken gold decisions as a skipper. Heather Graham is a fine player at 5. At number 6, they are likely to continue with Chloe Tryon despite her not being able to fire as a batter so far. It’s her bowling which makes Chloe a match-winner in the league.

Lower Middle Order – Tabatha Saville and Kathryn Bryce

Tabatha Saville

In the lower middle order, the Hurricanes women have a couple of aggressive batters. Tabatha Saville has been good as a bowler. Hobart would like to get a better contribution from her with the bat. Kathryn Bryce has been good as a bowler. If required, she can step up as a batter, though she hasn’t been able to do so far in the season.

Bowlers –  Molly Strano, Lauren Smith, Callie Wilson

Lauren Smith

The Hurricanes women have a talented set of bowlers. But given their lack of experience, some of them have gone for runs in one of their matches. Strano bowled well in the first match but went expensive in the second. Lauren Smith and Callie Wilson can be economical from their end. For the Hurricanes to stand a chance against the Heat women, the bowlers need to be back on track.
