One of the biggest rivalries in International cricket is between England and Australia and the T20I series has already begun. We will now go onto the second game which will be held at Cardiff, where the Men in Yellow and the Poms will go head-to-head once again and this is the match that will go on be either the decider of the series as well with the Aussies leading the series 1-0 after a one-sided victory at The Rose Bowl.
The Australians will go into the match with a lot of confidence going into the match, however, there will still be a problem for England who might have to do a lot of thinking to win the game and level the series to give them a chance. There are still some strong players in the squad which the three lions will want to look at and see how they can make a comeback in the upcoming game.
So, here is the potential playing XI for the England team going into the Southampton game:
Top order- Phil Salt, Will Jacks, Jordan Cox
England should keep these top three players who have shown glimpses of brilliance in the first match despite getting out after starts. These three players still have the capability of changing the game and all of us will still be looking forward to seeing their best performances to level the series. If these young and talented players give some great performances England will have a great chance of levelling the series.
Middle Order- Liam Livingstone, Dan Mousley, Sam Currann
Liam Livingstone proved in the previous game that he can contribute with both bat and ball and with Bethel proving to be expensive and failing with the bat, The England team can choose to go for the likes of Dan Mousley instead as the conditions of Cardiff will also suit him. Sam Curran might not have had the best of games, but he will still be a key figure in the lineup going forward and the England team will want him to prove himself in the next game.
Lower-middle order- Jamie Overton and Jofra Archer
Jamie Overton might have not had the best of days as he did not get to bowl and could not take his team through, but still adds depth to the squad and he will most likely be trusted in the second game as well. Jofra Archer was exceptional last match and will no doubt be the spearhead of the English attack going forward as well. Overall these two will be one of the key players in the next game as well.
Tailenders- Adil Rashid, Saqib Mahmood and Reece Topley
Though Topley had a forgettable game in Southampton, he will still be one of the biggest hopes for the Three Lions with his swing and seam bowling. Adil Rashid and Saqib Mahmood bowled great spells last match and will be looking to do the same going forward as well. These three will be the inform bowlers in the game, who made sure Australia could not get to the big score of over 200.
