Predicting Delhi Capitals’ four overseas players for their Playing XI in the IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals had yet another solid Indian Premier League 2025 Auctions in Jeddah. One of the biggest talking points ahead of the Auctions was the parting of ways between the franchise and its skipper Rishabh Pant. The 27-year-old was later picked by Lucknow Super Giants for a massive INR 27 Crores to make him the costliest player in the league. 

Hemang Badani during his chat with S Badrinath on the latter’s YouTube channel revealed the reason behind Pant’s exit. “I think it’s the other way around. He wanted not to be retained. He said he wanted to go to the auction and test the market,” said Badani. 

The former India star also mentioned “If you want to retain a player, both parties have to agree on certain things. We tried talking to him, the management tried talking to him. There were a lot of phone calls and messages exchanged”

Opener – Jake Fraser-McGurk

Australian sensation Jake Fraser-McGurk came to Delhi Capitals as a replacement player last season. In nine games the young batter scored 330 runs with a strike rate of 234 and also hit 4 half-centuries. Each of his fifties came in quick time and this made Delhi Capitals buy him back for a huge sum of money. Jake Fraser-McGurk is expected to be one of the biggest stars in the coming years and he will open the batting for Delhi in the coming season. 

Middle-Order – Tristan Stubbs and Harry Brook

South African star Tristan Stubbs made his way to Delhi Capitals after spending two years with Mumbai Indians. Lack of chances with the former IPL winners meant that Stubbs had to prove himself with his new team. If Brook can translate his Test form into IPL for Delhi Capitals, then they might well win the title in 2025.

Lower middle Order – Mitchell Starc

After spending just one season with Kolkata Knight Riders where he helped his team win the title, Mitchell Starc was released. The pacer cost a whopping INR 24.75 crores last year but this year saw his value drop off. Mitchell Starc is a huge asset for Delhi Capitals as he can bowl well with the new ball and also does well in the death overs. His experience in the white ball format will also hold the key.
