One can expect a good game between bat and ball. The focus will be on Guyana Amazon Warriors who couldn’t overcome St Lucia Kings in Qualifier 1. The Royals must be at their best to overcome the Warriors.
Here is the potential playing XI of the Barbados Royals against the Guyana Amazon Warriors
Top Order – Quinton De Kock (WK), Kadeem Alleyne, and Alick Athanaze
Quinton De Kock will continue to open the batting along with Kadeem Alleyne. While the duo wasn’t needed in the previous game, their service will be essential in Qualifier 2. De Kock will additionally keep wickets for the Royals. Alick Athanaze at number 3 must prove himself as someone who can perform in a big match. The emerging star could be the batter to watch out for.
Middle Order – David Miller, Rahkeem Cornwall, and Rovman Powell (C)
In the middle order, the Royals have some of the best batters in the world. David Miller won the match in the Eliminator. To follow him could be either Rovman Powell or Rahkeem Cornwall. The former would have the added responsibility of leading the side. Likewise, the latter would be handy with his spin bowling which helps the balance of the side. It makes the Royals’ middle order stronger.
Lower Middle Order – Jason Holder and Ramon Simmonds
In the lower middle order, the Royals have two bowling orders. Jason Holder with his medium-pace bowling can take the new ball. He can also be useful in the middle overs. If needed, the star player can bowl an over at the death. As a batter, he could add some runs lower down the order.
To follow him would be Ramon Simmonds who has been fine for the Royals this season. Much like Jason, he can add some runs lower down the order. But his big contribution would be with the ball. As the fourth bowler of the side, he can take wickets and be economical from his end.
Bowlers – Maheesh Theekshana, Naveen-Ul-Haq, and Obed McCoy
In the bowling department, Barbados has a variety. With the new ball, they have an emerging star like Naveen-Ul-Haq who can take wickets with the new ball. He can return to bowl at the death and be effective with the slower ones. To accompany him would be Obed McCoy and Mahesh Theekshana.
McCoy will have the responsibility of being the chief death bowler. He bowls at the end of Powerplay and an over in the middle overs phase too. Theekshana would be a key bowler for the Royals. He can bowl in the end PP and the middle overs phase. As a unit, the Royals have one of the best bowling orders in the league.
