OTD| Veteran Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie was born in 1975

It was on this day in 1975 when the cricketing world welcomed the birth of Jason Neil Gillespie in Darlinghurst, New South Wales, Australia. Gillespie’s early years were marked by a passion for the sport, honing his skills on the cricket fields of his hometown. Standing tall at 6 feet 4 inches, he possessed the ideal physique for a fast bowler, combining height with athleticism and raw talent. In his illustrious career, the legendary Australia pacer picked up 259 wickets in Test matches as well as 142 wickets in ODIs. 

In 1996, Gillespie’s dreams turned into reality as he made his international debut for the Australian cricket team.
