The talented right-handed batter from Bangladesh Towhid Hridoy has turned 23 today. He is one of the most promising talents for Bangladesh and going into the transition phase he will be one of the assets for Bangla Tigers. The youngster has had an impressive start to his international career but has a long road ahead to establish himself in the Bangladesh team.
The Beginning
Towhid Hridoy made his first-class debut for Rajshahi at a very young age. He soon went on to make his debut in List A cricket as well. Performances in domestic cricket helped him get an opportunity to play for Bangladesh. He got his maiden call-up for the national team this year for the T20 series against England. Hridoy represented Bangladesh for the first time in the opening match of the T20 series.
A few days later he made his ODI debut against Ireland at Sylhet. Since then, it has been an eventful ride for the youngster where he has delivered some impressive performances but needs to bring more consistency into his game.
The Overview
Hridoy has so far played 24 matches for Bangladesh in ODI cricket where he has amassed 682 runs at an average of 35.89. The right-hander has made 6 half-centuries in his brief career but the three-figure mark is missing which is not too far looking at the talent that he possesses.
He has also represented Bangladesh in 8 T20 Internationals scoring 156 runs at an average of 26. The team management would hope for more consistency from the promising young batter but at the same time, he must be given the time to explore international cricket. A bit of faith and patience would go a long way for both the player and Bangladesh Cricket. Senior players like Shakib, Mushfiqur, and Mahmudullah are approaching the end of their careers which makes it mandatory for the management to put faith in these young players.
