OTD | Mumbai Indians took their 2nd Champions League title in 2013

The Indian Premier League has been one of the most exiting and hyped up event which all the cricketing fans have their eyes on. On this day, 6th October, 2013, Mumbai Indians had marked their history by being the only team to win the Champions League title for the second time. Mumbai Indians is one of the most well known and a team with huge fan base not just across the country but world wide as well. The list of players who have been a part of the team is quite interesting as it ranges from the great Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar to the fast bowling expert Lasith Malinga. 

The Mumbai team directly had entered the CLT20 tournament, the Rohit Sharma led side was able to qualify owing to the IPL team triumph. Team Rajasthan Royals could not make it to the direct qualifications since they were third runners-up for the IPL tournament. Despite this, RR was able to secure a win in all the group-league fixtures. 

During the match, MI had lost the toss, MI was able to show an exceptional performance with a great start to the final match. One of the most important and crucial batting performance was shown by the Captain Rohit Sharma. He was patient with the bat which helped the team secure good numbers in the scorecard. Some of the most blistering cameos were shown by legendary cricketers, Dinesh Karthik, Glen Maxwell and Harbajan Singh. Team Mumbai Indians was able to secure a win by scoring 202 runs in the scoreboard by losing just 6 wickets in the twenty over match. A below par performance was scripted by the team Rajasthan Royals. This edition of the tournament was the second last match in the series. It is sad that one of the most recreational tournament was discontinued because of financial stability and lack of viewership.
