Karachi Kings had to wait four years to get their hands on the Pakistan Super League title. The season began in February but the playoffs were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic which had caused mayhem across the world. By the time the tournament reached its finale stage, Karachi Kings beat Lahore Qalandars by 5 wickets with 8 balls to spare and claimed their first-ever title.
Babar Azam’s led side began with a win over Peshawar Zalmi by 10 runs. This was followed by losses to Quetta and Multan in the next two games. Karachi then won their game against Islamabad and their return fixture against Peshawar.
After the halfway stage of the tournament, Karachi saw their game against Multan rained off while losing their next match to Lahore. The Kings exacted revenge against the Qalandars with a ten-wicket win followed by a win over Islamabad and losing their final league match to Quetta.
Once the playoff stages resumed in November, Karachi beat Multan in the super-over. The game had ended in a tie and Karachi went on to score 13 runs in the super over before restricting Multan to just 8 runs in reply and winning the game by 5 runs.
