OTD | India's biggest win over Pakistan in ODIs came on this day in Asia Cup 2023

After numerous delays during the match, during which rain played a spoilsport for two days stopping the game midway, India secured an iconic win over the Pakistan team in the Asia Cup 2023 on this day. India surpassed their 140-run win in 2008. India showed their combined team effort where jointly Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav were the stars who helped the team with their phenomenal performance.

During the match, star batter Virat Kohli and KL Rahul started a smooth innings from an overnight score of 147 runs which was followed by Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill with their quick fifty runs on the first day of the match. Kohli played his smart singles and doubles to keep the score up and gradually ticked off boundaries once in a while.

During the last five overs, Rahul was able to sweep Iftikhar Ahmed and played more of an offensive battle against the Pakistan team. Both the players, as they reached fifty, began their overdrive mode where they got lost and did not leave Afridi and Shahdab. Kohli did wonders with his bat as he secured his century, while Rohit was able to get his 6th ODI ton.

Kohli was able to secure the last 59 runs in just 30 balls where he helped the Indian team single-handedly to reach the 350 mark by scoring 122 runs in just 94 deliveries. Post this, Kohli became the fastest batter in the world to reach 13,000 runs in an ODI, while KL Rahul and his partnership became the highest in the Asia Cup ODI tournament.

While chasing the set target, Babar Azam and Co. had to face some of the finest bowlers of the Indian cricket team like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. Following the rain, the Pakistan team were in agony as Kuldeep was able to take a five-wicket haul by taking back-to-back wickets.
