On this day last year the Indian team got a thrilling win against Bangladesh in the 2022 t20 World Cup. It was a crucial victory considering India’s World Cup campaign. In a rain-curtailed affair, Bangladesh put up a strong challenge for the Men in Blue but India managed to overcome the hurdles at the end.

India bat first

Shakib Al Hasan won the toss for Bangladesh and put India to bat first. The Indian team could not get off to a good start as pacer Hasan Mahmud dismissed the Indian skipper very early. After an early blow, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli managed to build a partnership and bring India out of a precarious situation.

KL Rahul got out immediately after completing his half-century. Suryakumar Yadav played a quick cameo to give India some momentum. India posted a challenging total of 185 courtesy of a fantastic knock of 64 from Virat Kohli.

Rain Curtailed chase

Bangladesh openers gave their side a steady start. Meanwhile, rain disturbed the play and the revised target for Bangladesh was 151 in 16 overs. After the rain stopped it appeared as if Bangladesh lost the momentum that their openers got. Immediately after the break Litton Das was dismissed who was looking solid. This wicket ignited a mini-collapse in Bangladesh’s innings and at one point they were 108/6, staring down the barrel of a defeat. Captain Shakib Al Hasan could not contribute much and that cost his side heavily as it was important for a player of his caliber to hold one end and guide the team in a tricky run chase.

Nurul Hasan and Taskin Ahmed tried their best to get Bangladesh across the finishing line but the Indian bowling attack proved to be too much for them. India restricted Bangladesh to 145/6 and won the match by 5 runs. Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, and Mohammad Shami made crucial contributions with the ball to prevent Bangladesh from getting two crucial points.
