On this day, back in 1957, former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad was born. He has been known for his unconventional style of captaincy and batting. He has been known as one of the greatest batters Pakistan has ever produced, and his contemporaries have extolled him as one of the finest batters in the history of cricket.
Javed has played for the Test and ODIs between 1975 and 1996. He has been known for his unique techniques and impressive control. He still places himself in the 44th spot among the best cricketers of all time, according to the ESPN Legends of Cricket. He is still known for his historic last-ball six against India back in 1986 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Dubai, when four runs were needed in the last ball of the game. He also played a crucial role in guiding Pakistan to win the 1992 World Cup. The star cricketer also has three coaching stints with PCB. In addition, the great cricketer was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame back in 2009.
The star cricketer is one of the few players to have coached the Pakistan team on three occasions. He first got the chance to be a coach back in 1988, when Pakistan defeated India on their home soil in one Test series and one Asian Test Championship. However, the star batter faxed his resignation to the PCB in April 1999, which was the day before the 1999 Cricket World Cup.
