Paul Collingwood was born on May 26, 1976, and went on to become one of the greatest cricketers in England. The way he batted amazingly throughout his career shows the potential he had as a player. At the age of 42, his county career came to an end in 2018. He had a great temperament in him which led to various records and series wins.
One of the most prominent ones is when the first England captain to ever deliver a global tournament when England beat Australia to win the 2010 World T20I. It was a reward for nine years of uncomplaining professionalism. At that time, he gave away his everything to prove that his team was the best by defeating more talented opponents to make himself indispensable in all forms of the game.
He’s not only a great batter, but a good bowler as well. His all-round performance has helped England win a lot of matches. In all three formats of the game, he has some brilliant records as a batter. In Tests, he has played 115 innings and scored 4259 runs at an average of 40.56. In ODIs, he has played 181 innings and scored 5092 runs at an average of 35.36.
After retiring from International cricket, he continued to play for and went on to succeed Phil Mustard as captain in 2012. Later, he won an impressive seven of his first 10 matches at the helm steering Durham from bottom of the table to safety.
