OTD | Former England batter Allan Lamb was born in 1954

The history of England cricket is something many of us have always looked into. After all, they were the inventors of the game that have had some great success in the game. There have been a lot of incredible players England cricket will remember for generations, especially during the old times as well. The contribution of these players can never go unnoticed at all.

One such player we all can never forget is their middle-order sensation, Allan Lamb. Lamb might have been born in South Africa, but he showed his loyalty to the England side and had a successful career in first-class cricket and carried it on towards international as well. He has played 201 matches and has scored over 8500 runs with a decent average. He was easily one of the best England batters in the 80’s and the early 90’s. And it is time to celebrate such a great career on his 70th Birthday.

Lamb and his success against the dangerous bowling attacks

Lamb has been one of the biggest talents of England cricket during his career where he had great technique and had a naturally aggressive game to go with it. While the other England batters have struggled against the dangerous bowling attacks of the West Indies and Australia, it was Allan Lamb who stood up to them. He was one of the rare batters to score more than 1000 runs against these dangerous pace attacks and score big runs against them. He was easily a force to be reckoned with in his time.

The career of Lamb is filled with great moments that we can never forget at all and with his contribution England Cricket has had some great memories to look back to. The 80s and 90s were the seasons for this incredible batter, who always scored crucial runs for his side and was known as one of the best cricketers England has ever produced.
