OTD | Former Australian bowler, Terry Alderman, was born in 1956

The Australian team is one of the best teams in the world right now and there is a big history regarding this top international side. The amount of trophies and triumphs the team has had makes them one of the dominant teams in the world right now. There have been a lot of great players representing Baggy Greens who we remember even today.

Though the Aussies have always been great contenders, it was their bowling attack that made them dangerous. There were a variety of pace bowlers who have also given great performances despite their short careers. One of the bowlers was Terry Alderman. The Aussie pacer from Perth might not have had the longest career, but has given some iconic performances and we have to celebrate them on the auspicious day of 12th June 2024.

The forgotten Ashes hero for Australia

Even though Alderman has only played 41 Test matches and 65 ODI’s, his record is still impeccable where he has taken 258 international wickets with a great average and economy. His most incredible performances were in the 1981 and 1989 Ashes, where he was Australia’s best bowler against a strong England side. This is the series that has made him one of the iconic pacers for the team.

These two Ashes series have made Alderman one of the pacers in the Australian team we could never forget at all. We liked to see how he used to trap the batters and take wickets consistently from every bowler we have seen. Though Alderman might not be one of the legends of the game, he has made an impactful mark in international cricket that we can never forget at all. This is a career which deserves a lot more recognition than what it has been getting right now. He has been a great servant to Australian cricket and has given great performances
