There have been a lot of great left-handed batters who have given some incredible performances for the Men in Blue. However one of the most underrated performers we saw in the team was Suresh Raina. The swashbuckling middle-order batter was one of the upcoming talents known for his aggressive style of play and his elegant strokes. He has also been part of the Indian team during the triumphant 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy.
Raina might not have had the most decorated and elongated career in cricket but still had a good run under MS Dhoni’s side where he has scored close to 8000 internationally and has played over 300 games for his country as well. It is safe to say that he has still had a great career and we should appreciate his contribution to Indian cricket which has been great to witness.
The day Thala’s deputy hung up his boots
We all know that Suresh Raina had a great camaraderie with MS Dhoni who was also his skipper in the CSK franchise as well. The two had enjoyed their time as captain and vice-captain and had wonderful careers. However, this was also the day Raina retired from all formats of cricket where he followed his idol and skipper down the line. This was the end of another exciting career where all of us enjoyed his attractive inside-out shots over the cover region.
The day of 15th August will not only be remembered as the day we got our independence but also the day when we finally had to bid adieu to one of the most talented batting all-rounders in the game who played some heroic knocks for the Indian team and CSK franchise in the IPL. This has really been a career of a lifetime and the name Suresh Raina will never go unnoticed at all from any format of cricket.
