Former English Wicket keeper-batsman Craig Kieswetter is celebrating his 36th Birthday. He played most of his international career for England from 2010 to 2013. Kieswetter was a bright prospect for English cricket but could not take off quite well which resulted in a short stint in the England team.

The Beginning

The wicket-keeper was born in South Africa and played the 2006 U-19 World Cup for South Africa. But he soon travelled to England and made his first-class debut for Somerset against Derbyshire, in 2007. From there he stayed in the United Kingdom and became a regular player for Somerset. He got his reward for his impressive performances in county cricket as he made his debut for the Three Lions in ODI cricket against Bangladesh in 2010.

In the same year, he went on to make his T20 international debut, against West Indies. It was the T20 World Cup where he first made his entry into international cricket in this format and stayed a part of the T20 side for a couple of years.

The Overview

The T20 World Cup 2010 winner played 46 ODI matches for the European side and scored more than 1000 runs, which included a century, at an average of 30.11. The wicketkeeper-batsman got off to a great start in international cricket but could not continue his good performances for a long time.

In T20 cricket he got to represent England in 25 matches. He scored 526 runs in T20 internationals at a poor average of 21.91. Kieswetter could not stay in the English setup in this format as well and his performances were not up to par. Ultimately, he was axed from the side. He played his last international match for England in 2013 against India at Ranchi.

After his abrupt retirement due to eye injury, the former Somerset player tried his hand at Golf as well. He played golf at a professional level as he had played the game at a young age in South Africa.
