OTD | Australia's star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was born in 1989

Australia’s star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was born on 16th August 1989. He played for the  Australian team that won the 2021 T20 World Cup and the 2023 Cricket World Cup. He is a valuable team member and has also played some great matches. He’s an all-rounder who can bowl and bat brilliantly at the same time.

He played for the Delhi Daredevils before the 2015 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Later, he was picked up by the Kings XI Punjab for the 2016 season in the auction for INR 5.5 million. Moreover, on 13 May 2016, he achieved his career-best T20 figures in a game for Kings XI against Mumbai Indians, taking 4/15 from his four overs.

Stoinis has been a remarkable player for Australia throughout his career. The kind of matches he has played, sometimes with bats or with balls, is extremely commendable. Moreover, he’s one of the most reliable players as well. He made his T20I debut in August 2015 against England and his ODI debut in the same series in September 2015.

Ever since that day, he hasn’t stopped performing for the team. Even though injuries do take him down, he bounces back even stronger than ever. His most memorable will definitely be a part of the ODI World Cup 2023 where Australia beat India in their own home ground. That was one important match and he performed well.

Moreover, he did play well throughout the tournament which was a brilliant effort. Overall in ODIs, he has played 70 games and scored 1487 runs while in T20I he has played 66 games and scored 1109 runs. He is yet to make his Test debut but since he’s going strong in white-ball cricket, the red-ball journey isn’t far away.
