Former cricket star for Australia and younger brother of Michael Hussey, David John Hussey made his debut back in July 2008 against West Indies. Born on 15 July 1977, this cricket legend played as an all-rounder for his team.

During his time playing internationally, Hussey appeared across 69 ODIs with over 1700 runs, and while his time in international cricket did not include as many achievements as his brother, he was a legend across T20 cricket and has appeared across 267 T20 matches and 39 T20 international matches, scoring over 6800 runs.

However, due to this, he was not considered for Test Matches. Regardless, he has created some of the epic moments, including his score of 212 against New South Wales which helped chase Victoria a record-breaking 455 runs for the Pura Cup in Newcastle.

He also made rounds over the internet after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) acquired the all-rounder for a sum of $625,000 during the first Indian Premier League (IPL) which was far more than his brother Mike Hussey who was arguably much more popular.

Since then, David has become a core part of the IPL, playing for big names. After his stint with KKR, he was picked up by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for $1.4 million and later played with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after Dwayne Bravo was injured.

Retirement and beyond

David Hussey played his last T20 international match against West Indies in October 2012 and his last ODI against Sri Lanka in January 2013. However, he was still active across Domestic teams and was captain for Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL).

His exit from BBL marked the end of his cricket career as the player announced retirement from all sports. His fans and fellow players congratulated him on his incredible journey. Hussey did express his disappointment that he did not get to play as well as he wanted but was happy to get more time to spend with the family.
