OTD| Australian pacer Kane Richardson was born in 1991

Australian fast bowler Kane Richardson was born on 12th February 1991 in Eudunda, South Australia. Richardson is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and right-handed batter. He comes to bat as a tail-ender. However, he has the ability to bowl at any stage of the match. Kane Richardson has proved his worth in the white-ball cricket.

Richardson made his KFC T20 Big Bash debut for West End Redbacks against Queensland in 2009. Ahead of the U19 World Cup the Australia U19 team visited India. Richardson was named as captain for the Australia U19 team. In the youth Test against India, he took a five-wicket haul. In the 2010 U19 World Cup Kane Richardson took six wickets and played three matches for Australia U19 as they won the U19 trophy under the leadership of Mitchell Marsh.

In 2013 Kane Richardson made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka. As Australia were bowled out on 170, he was gone on duck. He bowled six overs and gave 15 runs without taking any wickets. Due to his poor performance, he was dropped from the ODI team and waited to play his next ODI for more than a year.

In the 2016 ODI against India, he took a five-wicket haul and gave 68 runs he also helped the team to win the match. In 2017 Kane Richardson again emerged as the main figure in the Australian bowling line-up as others were facing injury. In the tour against India, he got 3 wickets from 55 runs at Eden Gardens in Kolkata and in Chinnaswamy, Bengaluru he took three wickets and gave 58 runs. He was picked for the 2019 ODI World Cup. He got to play a few matches for Australia and picked five wickets in the tournament. 

In 2014 Kane Richardson made his T20 debut for Australia against Pakistan in Dubai. In his first game, he picked one wicket and gave 13 runs as he bowled three overs. Till now he has played 18 T20Is for Australia and has grabbed 19 wickets with an average of 26.57. He has not yet got the chance to represent Australia in Test cricket. 

In IPL 2013 Kane Richardson played for Pune Warriors India. In that IPL he got to play only three matches and took two wickets. After that, he was picked by Rajasthan Royals where he got seven wickets. In 2016 he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and took seven wickets with an average of 19.42. In 2020 he withdrew his name due to the birth of his child. 

He spent six seasons as a Big Bash League player with the Adelaide Strikers (BBL). He is the highest wicket-taker for Adelaide Strikers as he took 42 wickets in 40 matches. In 2017 he signed a five-year contract with Melbourne Renegades.
