Alastair Cook, England’s one of the greatest batters, scored 12,472 runs in 161 Tests at an average of 45.35 in his career. He is his country’s highest run-getter and century-maker in Tests and is also the first cricketer to receive a knighthood since 2006.
On May 30 2016, Cook became the youngest batsman and the first Englishman to scale the 10,000-run barrier in Test cricket. While playing against Sri Lanka at Chester-le-Street on the fourth day of the second Test, he scored a boundary off Nuwan Pradeep and achieved this milestone.
Before starting the Test match, he was just 20 runs short of scoring 10,000 runs. He is currently the fifth-highest run-getter in Test cricket history, including 33 centuries and 57 half-centuries. With his dedication and courage, he has scored in almost all the countries.
He has played the best against the Indians as he scored 2431 runs in 30 Test matches with an average of 47.67, including nine half-centuries and seven centuries. Moreover, in 13 matches, he has scored 1235 runs at an average of 51.46 including four half-centuries and five centuries.
Cook has had an incredible career and was also one of the best batters of the English team. His stubbornness and never-giving-up spirit were the main reasons he stood out to be the best of the team for a long time.
